I have to commend Ricky Stokes for all the time and energy hes put into getting all the info out about Country Crossroads, hes done a great job.I dont know how many of you here on wiregrass agree or disagree with electronic bingo...I am for it,in that it will not hurt one thing, the ones that want to play can,the ones that dont, doesnt have too.Dothan and the surrounding counties, need this. Its a shot in the arm for people to get jobs, and there will be alot of jobs.I cant believe that some in the Ala congress will let this slip away for Florida to get it.Go to rickystokes to read all the hearings on this, and meetings.Churches dont want the bingo, just like the lottery.I attend church and consider myself a good person, but, whats so wrong about Bingo? All the stores sell beer, wine, and hard booze. The churches let this happen.I may make a few here upset when I say, churches should not be the ones who decide if Bingo can be played.Wake up Alabama,we are already behind in every poll taken on anything 48th 49 th,out of all the states.Too loose this good thing for everyone to me is hard for me too comprehend..Those that think its a good thing, let the Ala congress know.. |

I don't understand what the big deal is about bingo either. Bingo is harmless in my opinion. Its something fun that people can do and why not do it? It could be something nice to do rather than having to go somewhere and a bunch of teenagers are running rampant and getting on your nerves and it would be better than going out to a bar. What does the churches have against Bingo? |

The big deal is that the NOISY bible thumping preachers want you to tithe that money to them.
Personally I don't care - especially if its on the other side of Dothan and I don't have to put up with the traffic it'll generate.
Neither it or the Florida lotto will be getting any of my COLORFUL green-backs. |

Let me know when Cher agrees to a performance.

holier than thou people really rile me up. the stupidity of this whole bingo issue pales only when compared to the idiotic view of these same folks on the state lottery. i'd sure pay to see some good southern rock... :>) |

Ms C,
I have often lied about my needing to choose between being a famous rock and roll star - or a soldier, about teaching the Stones all they knew about music, and of hob-knobbing with the incredible (Legs) Tina.
How much would you pay for me to perform?
Any others? |

I have never considered myself a "Holy Roller," but I do consider myself a Christian. We all have opinions, and we all shape the society in which we live. In the case of the lottery, all citizens of Alabama had an opportunity to vote. The will of the voters determined the fate of a state lottery. I'm sure that Christians and non-Christians alike voted for and against the issue based on their feelings on the issue. I don't think it is right to simply blame Christians or people of religion for the outcome of this issue. |

Well what I don't understand about it is that right now churches are the only ones allowed to have Bingo. Why are they so against it all of a sudden. They fought for years for the right to have it in the name of "fundraising". |

I don't think you can lump all Churches in that category. A Church that opposes gambling should oppose gambling whether it is inside or outside of their doors. |

Well Andy, Old Chum, I also oppose gambling. But more importantly, I also oppose those who would impose their will on others. And that includes many of the other sins you do-gooders wish to impose on the general public.
I say mind your own business and let the good folks make up their own minds!

C Mom,
I'm a legend,
in my own mind.
I'll perform for a measly
100 thousand American dollars.
After taxes,
and expenses,
and any other thing
that I can tack onto this.

Press Release
Let the Stars Fall on Houston County!
Grassroots community action group makes their voices heard.
On Saturday, April 19th from 1 - 5 pm at the Dothan Convention Center, an ambitious group of Wiregrass residents will show the region their support for the proposed Country Crossing project. The Dothan Convention Center is located at 4106 Ross Clark Circle across from Twitchell.
One of the organizers, Debbie Trueblood of Dothan, said that she’s “amazed by the incredible amount of energy, enthusiasm and talent being brought to this effort by volunteers. They’re offering to direct traffic, type, call legislators, mail letters, hand out flyers and speak at this rally. It’s just an inspiring amount of community involvement”.
Expected speakers include local business owners, private citizens, the project’s developer, Ronnie Gilley, and other interested parties. A complete slide presentation of the development, including all the features planned will be presented.
David Asbill Sr., another group organizer from the Wiregrass, said he is “really pleased with the amount of input that’s been shared in an open, friendly atmosphere. This is truly the PEOPLE speaking”.
Another organizer and local business owner Tim Hawkins said “I think it’s the best thing that could ever happen to this area, and I can’t wait for it to get here”.
Come to the Dothan Convention Center Saturday afternoon, April 19th and see why we’re working to “Let the Stars Fall on Houston County”! For further information, or to volunteer, go to http://www.supportcountrycrossing.org or call David Asbill Sr. at 685.6201 or Debbie Trueblood at 618.1610

Now Wrascal, you're going to make me put that trap back out, LOL. I don't wish to impose my will on anyone, and really don't consider myself a do gooder, just another sinner. But like you, I will share my opinion. |

It's just another case of the holy rollers trying to dictate how we live our lives. They weren't happy enough to keep the lottery out of the state now they have outlawed marital aids.( you know sex toys.) Now they want to keep a development out of this area that could not only bring jobs but also some well needed money into this area. That's ok send more money to Florida and Georgia. If I want a lotto ticket I'll go buy one. All they are doing is sending money away from here. You can't legislate morality. People are gonna do and get what they want all your doing is making it a little more inconvenient. And that doesn't really matter. I wish the so called Christians would quit trying to rule my life. It's funny to me that we have enough Christians to scream morality but I can't get a seat at a local restaurant on a Sunday morning when they are all supposed to be in church! |
