Hello. My name is Terry. Just wanted to say how cool it is you made this page. I went to school with these girls and we all attended the same high school. Tracie and I were even in the same class in 5th grade. I remember when it happened. I got to my 1st class and everybody was freaking out. Then they turned on the tvs in the classroom and we heard what had happened. It was so sad and tragic. I hope to God that the son of a bitch that did this is brought to justice someday. RIP JB and Tracie.

I heard she was dating an Ozark Police officer and he transferred out of state. I also heard that an Ozark police officer urinated by the car the night they were killed and he got out of law enforcement. Then there is the judge's grandson who committed suicide. Did anyone claim she was dating him too? There seems to be a pattern to these rumors... They men in question have been disposed of. Rumors have a way of lending credibility when the ones being accused or suspected aren't capable of being asked. Those who start these types of rumors know how to run them. Let's not forget how so many wanted to see Barrentine executed for the murders. I find the notion that the girls may have been killed for racism an interesting change from the usual.

You know,whoever killed JB and Tracie,it was like an execution,that whoever got too them,knew that they were going to kill the girls..maybe I am wrong,but why were they killed?I too this day believe that the DNA found on JB wasnt the killers DNA,and this is why no ones been arrested.Also Venus,all the mud on the girls clothes,they were running,but got caught..Racism? This may be true,for they were killed like a hate crime.Killed for no reason...

I don't believe it was a law officer, especially one working in Ozark! Ozark wasn't a place either of girls hung out in and if one of them were seeing someone in Ozark others would have known about it. You can't go pee in Ozark without someone knowing about it. Yet, someone in Ozark made sure the girls were there! Who would know the girls didn't know anyone in Ozark? Who would know that Ozark would be a good place for such a crime as they would have the rumor mill on their side, protecting them? Was the car left where it was to make sure the girls were found quickly (a show of mercy/remorse) or was it left there to brag and flaunt?
Those who know what happened... How do they live with it? How do they feel about themselves knowing how torn up people remain about this? I can completely understand why nobody would turn to law enforcement in Ozark but someone who knows something be it hearsay or witnessing others acting strangely could go to larger entities of the law outside of the state of Alabama. They could ask to remain anonymous due to fears of retaliation as well as worries of being destroyed or discredited by local law enforcement and their inexperience and arrogance. If someone knows enough to help bring this case to an end I truly believe other law enforcement agencies would bend over backwards to ensure the safety of their witnesses. I think too much time has passed to be wondering about who did it and now whoever knows about that night needs some attention and encouragement to come forward. This crime has been all over the television and people who know about it have watched it and critiqued the accuracy of details... When do these people come to realize that they are getting older and the time is coming when they will leave this world and they could leave it a better place by talking to someone from the television shows, other legal sources, even an attorney... They could give the families peace and in doing so they could find peace too. They have the power to do something good here and I hope and pray they will. Perhaps this was their first trip to Oz outside of community events... Still someone knows about it as you can't pee in Ozark without someone knowing about it! If you are reading this and you do know something... Contact me through the site and I will do all I can to help to protect and ensure your legal rights as a witness. Don't "justify" "condone" and "condemn" through hearsay and rumor. Would you be condemned so easily for rumors about you, especially when you never had the chance to defend yourself or tell the truth?

I remember cmom and the police were too quick to judge instead of listen to Johnnie. It's a shame too as Johnnie witnessed something horrible and he won't ever tell what it was assuming he remembers after the brain washing that was given to him. It was another injustice done to the girls when the police corrupted a witness with information. Some could say it was a part of their conspiracy to protect one of their own but I don't give them credit for being that smart!

I wish the attorney generals task force would reinterview Johnnie,I do,for I believe he knows something,and was too scared to tell.I may be wrong,but its just a gut feeling....

Cmom, I agree he knew (knows) something but would you talk to law enforcement after being locked up and threatened with the death penalty for witnessing a crime? I think I might be forgetting everything real quick if law enforcement wanted to talk to me some more, after all of that!

Hello everyone. I hope it's not too late to become a part of this group... I moved to Ozark 4 going 5 years now and I hadn't heard of this double-murder until a few months back. This definitely struck me as strange that my peers retold the story so calmly... It disturbs me that no one has been trying to bring this case up again! But, if anyone from this group needs anything, I'd be more than happy to help.
