The towns being wet was a way to get around being in a dry county like Coffee where you have a growing city like Enterprise with people settling there who would like to have a simple beer with dinner. The Bama Legislature passed laws that allow towns of a certain size in dry counties to call referendums on going wet. What I don't get is how, with all these people buying beer in Enterprise/Elba, can the count not vote to go wet? Maybe now it is advantageous for the Enterprise/Elba that the county remain dry thereby meaning more of an alcohol revenue windfall for these towns.
