| The sign says they will reopen for liquidation... so thats makes me think closing after they sell all... I really did like Fred's. Why can't we keep anything in this town... now i'm bummed about that... | | | |

| I am very disappointed too. I liked going there. They told us today they would open at 10am Sunday for the sale. I saw in another chat room where they were closing like 70 stores.. Apparently this one is closing due to shrinkage (theft). I am starting to really hate Ozark and I WILL take my tax dollars somewhere else.. I will drive to Daleville if I have to, unless they are closing that one too. | | | |

| It wasnt theft. Its not Ozarks fault.Freds closed 70 stores Thursday, not telling employees. When they arrived for work that day, they were told. Also too close the doors, lock them, put a sign up saying that they were closing, and would re-open today. They closed this store like the others because of people not coming in alot to buy.It was awful that the employees were all left hanging.Daleville store will be open.Theres not many stores in Daleville and more people shop there.Stores all across the US were closed...This info I received from Freds. | | | |

| Cmom, thank you for that info.. I think that is terrible they did the employees that way. I work at a real estate office and two employees there are my tenants.. I hate this for them. | | | |

| I see the rumor mill is in good working order as usual. The reason freds is closing has nothing to do with theft or money...Well not lack of it anyway. The reason freds is closing is because there are problems with the building ( the roof leaks etc.) that the land lord will not repair it so freds will not renew the lease. Other business in the building are having the same issue and are debating the same action. That's why goodys left. So it's not the buisness fault. It's the fault of the slumlord who owns the building. Same issue that has plagued ozark all along. The ones with money in this town only want to makie it not spend it. | | | |

| I was in Fred's yesterday, and an employee there told me that the Fred's in Abbeville is closing, also. Does anyone know who the landlord is of this building? | | | |

| Rumores huh? Well, why are the other 68 stores closing across the US? The one in Daleville isnt closed ...yet.The building may be leaking now,but thats not why they are leaving.Peebles use to be BC Moores.I cant recall it being Goodys..Hardly ever do I see people shoping at Peebles. They have nice things and good sales. As for the land lord of the shoping center,I may be wrong, but think its owned from a corp. not from here... | | | |

| WHATS THE BIG DEAL ,,, ITS A CORPORATE MOVE , A SIGN OF THE TIMES , IF THE ROOF LEAKS AND THE LAND LORD WANTS TO KEEP HIS CLIENT , HE WOULD , BUT SEEMS LIKELY TO ME THATS JUST A GOOD ENOUGH EXCUSE TO PULL ANCHOR AND SAY A.M.F. "NOUGH SAID !!!!!!!!!!! | | | |

| I heard from an employee at Peebles that they have a very large shrinkage problem as well, and that employee told me that it is not just customers. That IS a rumor, because I don't work there and don't know anyone other than the person who told me that. But I can imagine that there is a shrinkage problem there, and lots of other places in Ozark. Ozark is a depressed town, with a depressed economy. The landlord with the leaky roofs might not be in a position to fix the roof to keep his client. If that's the case, then we the whole building will probably be up for foreclosure soon. Nothing ever seems to find roots in Ozark. | | | War Eagle, Hey! | |

| It is my understanding the building in question is owned by S. E. , the one that just had his name on the ballot for a council seat, or was it a commissioner seat?............ Hint: furniture sales???........ | | | |

| The reason Peebles is having problems, isnt a leaky roof, its the people that dont swhop there,why?Wal-Mart is why..All across America Wal-Marts have hurt alot of bussiness, and yet,you can see why.Wal-Mart has alot too offer shopers, low prices and easy shopping. All under one roof.If the landlord hasnt the means too fix the leaky roof, and bussiness is lost because of it,it cant sit there and be a sore thumb.. | | | |
