History was made! The people like Jesse Jackson, and Al Sharpton who are in the race card playing business, should be out of business. If they start crying about unfair situations, the obvious rebutal is Obama. His father ran out on the family, single mother, reared by his grandmother in a relative poor household and now he hold the highest office of the land. Is he African American? His Father was from Kenya, his mother a white American woman... I guess, maybe. The things that trouble me is the impression that I formed about this man as I considered the options throughout the campaign season. The criteria is similar to what I look for in a potential employee. Who are you, where did you come from, what have you done, who are your references, and what do you want to do? Given what I could determine to be fact about who Obama is, what he has done, who he associates with, and what he wants to do, it seems that he reinvented himself to be able to deliver the sales pitch to get elected. The scary thing is that noone really knows WHAT he will do once he gets in office. There is now way he can deliver on what he has promised. However, the people close to him and the left wing of the Democratic party, if given their way, will make many serious changes in our Country that are most surely contrary to the values on which this Counrty was founded. The most disheartening thing is how easily most people are fooled. I remember seeing Bill Clinton giving a speech for the first time. I did not even have a clue who the governor of Arkansas was. I remember telling my wife, wow, that guy is smooth, but surely people can se through that. I was stunned when he was elected. What shocked me more is that he was elected a second time. I figured that once people see what they got, Clinton would stand no chance of re-election....wrong! Most politicians that hold office at the National level are borderline criminals anyway, or even hardcore criminals.....White-collar thugs out for their best interest through covert fraud in the big political mechinized system. The ones that get elected are the ones that can give the best "pitch". If a politician can connect on an emotional level and fling the most believable bullshit, they will get elected. Barack Obama has a magnificent ability to deliver a "pitch". Just like Bill Clinton, he is a great orator. He is practiced, polished, and flawless in delivering his bucket of bullshit. I fear that we are all in for a surprise in just how far to the left he will venture. Hang on, this is going to be something. The terrible thing about the presidential race was the one of either Obama or McCain was going to win. Neither was what this Country needed at this time. But, the worst of the two won. All that said, we must, as patriots, support the office of President, and do all we can to be active in the process of moving forward in the best way possible. God Bless the United States of America!

Ryan although I'm not at all happy about the election results your comments are offensive. we lost this election because of small minded racist comments and because of people not being smart enough to look past their noses. the economy took a crap after we had a liberal controlled congress and senate. now we have no checks and balances because its dem'ed up the food chain. I'm just as upset but the racial jokes and insinuations on a public forum brings our cause back to the 60's. in order to convert and educate the minority's to see that color is just a pigment not a cause because we are all equal!!! ...... some people need to understand that if we don't want to become a socialist state ,that you must work and succeed and have a reason to succeed ....... if just to make yourself better and do better then your parents did which is all a parent wants that government is not the answer. some say that bush took away your civil liberties i say you better hold on and look out because its going to get alot worse quick!!!!! when the people depend on the govmt. for support and to fix their problems then that just gives them more control . to gain more control then the come with the mask of safety. there goes the gun control and then gun bans. then we have people showing up at our door taking our guns. Ive gotten off subject and started in a rant. what my point is , is don't give agenda driven people ammunition to use against you. alot more people view these posts then post themselves and fear of being called a racist to prove your not probably gained obama a couple million votes. be smart man don't post stupid comments that will further a opportunistic groups argument. ttfn

Most of the people voted for a change, there was a strong group that voted the race card! Change, we need! The racist BS, needs to go! But, in the real world, there is strong racial views all over the world. It's not limited to North or South, It never has been limited to North and South.
As for taking it back to the 60's, we were right then, but we became conformist and learned how to live with crooked government. Our Country was made where the people are supposed to speak out and say what they feel, not hide in the dark corners. But we have learned that the big corp's will black-list you if you speakout against them, so we have become the conformist and are subject to be led to slaughter!
I pray for guidance, and as an American, I will support my elected President, even though I might not be happy, I do belive that our system will prevail, change will come. I also pray that change will bring a better America for my Grandchildren to live and prosper. EW

Obama isn't the anti christ. I voted for McCain and the media would have you believe Palin is the anti christ.
The culprits are white men who won't vote. Women and other minorities are the majority voters in this country. The research is there proving this. Obama's mother is as white american as you can get. Since race is a factor here and it shouldn't be, Obama's father is (supposedly) 1/2 Arabic and 1/2 African. Obama would be 1/4 Arab, 1/4 African and 1/2 white. His race is dominantly white! He married a black woman and his children will be dominantly black with 1/8 Arab and 1/4 white in their blood.
I am anti racist be it for or against a race. For the dooms dayers.... IMO it could be worse, Hillary could be the next president. I am more worried about Biden as vice president than I am about Obama.
Those of you upset over the election you can thank the white men who didn't vote, for the outcome of this election!

The white man did not vote? For Ohio to go to Obama, the white man did vote, and many for Obama. The problem is the people that can't see the reality of the world and how things work, and how things interconnected. One of the major factors in this presidential election was the media. People are easily swayed by a slick presentation and do not want to waste their time to educate and think for themselves. It is a shame that you can't laugh about the joke about spinners on air force one. When I read it, a visual image popped into my mind of Air force one coming to a slow stop and the spinners still turning. Yes, this is a stereotypical remark, but are we that sensitive? Does it make me racist because I could see the humor in that? Where does it end? I make no judgements by anyones color, appearance, or sex. I make judgements about people based on what they have done, and the character they project. Many of the ones that make claims of racism are quite biased themselves. The only reason I brought up race in my original comment was because President Elect Obama is mot really one race or the other. He is a mixture of several, but he refers to himself as black and the black community claim him as their own. And from that standpoint, Jackson and Sharpton should be out of business. I do fear that Obama will surround himself with the same type radical extremists that he has in the past. He has already named Rob Emanuel as his right hand man. When they come to get Bandits gun, I will be standing shoulder to shoulder with him, and when they take mine from me the barrel will be sizzling hot!

VFT, your poles have been ruled by the senior citizens, it has been a known fact, if you can seize the retired/senior citizen's, you could control the poles. it has been the topic of many predictions that the one that could get the under 40 crowd, and get them to vote could control the elections. we had record turnout at the poles, a lot of young people started voting! Most do not know the name of the person that ran for VP. does this tell you anything about their education?

I am not worried about Obama's ideas for guns, he doesn't have the support he needs. I've heard the gun arguements before and the worst damage done to gun owners was in the '70's and the people rebelled until such controls were removed. Of course, now with the search for "revenue" in too high demand, gun laws would generate more revenue with the gov't knowing that would be all they could do about guns.
Madman, I took 6 first time voters with me to vote they were in ages from 18 to 21. Many of the young ones related to Obama rather well. I didn't sway anyones ideas about who to vote for. I let it be known that there are two things you don't discuss in mixed company and that's politics and women's weight, lol. Not unless you want to start a feud.
More people voted for president in 2004 than they did in 2008. There were over 3 million more voters in 2004. In 2004, Bush beat John Kerry by winning 62.04 million votes. In 2008, Obama won 62.443 million, a gain of only 400,000. In 2004, Kerry took 59.028 million votes; John McCain only got 55.386 million.
Approximately 121 million people voted in 2004 way less than half of our legal voting population. Approximately 117 million voted this election, even less than our legal voting population. More than half of the minorities, in this country voted and they are the ones with the higher voting records. I know a lot of elderly who said they weren't voting this election, I was disappointed.
I saw the news reports of record turn outs in places but nothing like in 2004.
The Dems didn't take over the political arena as they had expected to. Our population is over 400 million people. Less than half of that number are illegible to vote! 2004 brought the highest number of registered voters to our younger generations. A good lot of them went and voted this time around too. Those who voted in 2004 encouraged those who haven't voted to do so. I am sure those who didn't vote encouraged some who did vote to do something, more imporant, too. I think examples by family members hold a lot of persuasion over our young voters.

I supported the Obama/Biden ticket and I am extremely relieved that we have a President-elect who speaks eloquently and is intelligent. Because the U.S. has been divided for so long, I would like to invite everyone to visit the website launched by the President-elect yesterday. www.change.gov This webiste will update folks on the transition, inauguration, upcoming events and even encourages people to express their ideas. Please take advantage of this opportunity and express your concerns to him.

Hi VFT and Cmom!!!! I hope everything is going well with you guys!!!

madman, thank you for sharing the voter turn out that high turn our makes me feel good and I hope it does others too. This election was historical in many ways.
The majority voted for Obama, someone in the minority population.
In the state votes....
The majority voted to make homosexual marriage illegal. (Ca. I was very surprised.)
The majority voted to make assisted suicide legal. (Wa and the 2nd state to do this)
The majority voted against making abortion a crime. (Fl)
It was wonderful seeing the majority being heard and knowing the courts can't touch it and give it to the minority! All elligible to vote had the chance to vote as well as campaign for the vote they wanted and the people had the chance to hear both sides and make their decision. I respect that, I admire it!!!!! I don't always like it. Man, I know how some feel about Obama being the president because when the Clinton's were re-elected, I felt the same way. I am so glad the Clinton's weren't on this ticket.
Hi Renegade, all here is well and good, how about yourself?
LOL @ your mention of having a well spoken president. It bothered a lot of people but I found that to be a minor concern of mine, ha.
I do hope Obama can unite the people but the division between the people are special interests groups and politicians with special interests. If you are a republican on democrat turf you are vermin and visa versa. That "passion" came with the Clinton's and they kept it stirred until they lost this last run for the white house. They went away and the friction between political parties died down too. Obama has a choice to apply that type of ugliness or not and I don't think he would consider it. My personal thoughts as to one reason why he didn't ask the Clinton's for the VP spot was due to their desire to incite anger and division.
Obama was raised by the white side of his family, he knows poverty and he knows racism and reversed racism. He knows how the people work hard for their money and many don't make enough. He also knows that you can rise above all of that with hard work. He has shut Jessi Jackson and Al Sharpton down hard. Without the racist and opression cards what will they do? Obama can't, honestly, show preferential treatment to blacks when it was his white family that supported him with aid from the gov't.
He is young and he hasn't been conformed to old political ways I hope Biden doesn't change that. He doesn't have family with businesses or wealth. He is an average citizen, he isn't the elite. He wasn't raised to be the president, he wasn't given entitlements for politics.... Obama worked hard for where he is just like most of us work hard for where we are. Nothing was handed to him. He has gotten far in his lifetime and he has done well. NOBODY is THAT lucky! He is smart and hard working. He will have lots to learn but he's been succesful in his crash course so far. I worry about the military because I don't quite know where he stands on that matter. We have 4 years to find out much about Obama but we know from he came and we know he beat some tough obstacles to get where he is... He's got mojo, that's for sure, lol.
The voters have spoken and I love it when the majority rules even when I don't like what the majority rules, I am still breathing sighs of relief over the Clinton's not being there lol.

that was enough wind to dry my clothes and hair lol..... venus your not worried about gun rights??????????? the dems control the house , the senate , and the white house now.  that is the liberal agenda to disarm the people. they come under the guise of safety. " you dont need those guns , we are the govmt and we are here to protect you "  the second amendment was # 2 for a very good reason, to protect the citizens from each other and the govmt. its one of the checks and balances that is most dear. if you think gun control isnt first on the agenda following redistribution of wealth then your only fooling yourself. to the gun owners reading this forum go out and get what you've wanted because its gonna only get harder for the law abiding gun owner to legally own firearms. like the old bumper sticker says " the day they outlaw guns is the day that only outlaws will have guns "   yall look out big brother is back with a vengeance. ttfn

well I am just going to trust the system, the people have spoke, if it wasn't the majority then it was the majority that cared enough to go and vote! now we have what we have. people have voted a change and we have what the people wanted. I to did not like what the past 8 years have brought and yes I am ready for change! Stiffer gun control laws, it wouldn't hurt, it will raise the sales of guns. but I am not a fellon, and I have a permit to carry (and I do). I don't think that Obama can pull this country out of the hole that it is in, in just 4 years. He will need help, drawing party lines will only hurt the presant situation. Support from all parties to better the country is what the people need. our children and our grand children are worth every bit of it. So from a republican who voted for McCain. Congratulations Mr. Obama, we the people need your help!

Let me see how I can repeat myself but say the same thing differently...Those that believe Obama can outlaw guns need to learn more about our political process. Obama doesn't have the power to outlaw guns. Many outlaws now have guns and they kill, each other, as well as innocent women, men and children with them. They buy from their local black market gun dealers or they steal them during other crimes. Obama wants to do what he can to stop that without taking guns from the legal gun owners. He doesn't have the power or the authority to outlaw guns for everyone. That scare tactic has been around forever, I think. I am amazed to see that it still holds water with some.
Obama intends to appoint two republicans to his cabinet, Chuck Hagel (Anti Iraq war) and Richard Luger (Foreign relations). Doesn't look like he is interested in democrat or republican control of this country, at least for now, he's showing an interest in controlling the country together.

stroking ones own intelligence and ego with false understanding and in the belief that no one else knows how govmt works is plain egotistic . let me repeat MYSELF the house and the senate are controlled by the dems. and as of jan 20 the white house. some people really need to stop stroking their own air of superiority because they are long winded. only a buffoon would think that the president is a king that what they wish is law. DUHHHHH!!!!! as i stated very plainly with no secret code at all we as concerned citizens need to guard our gun rights. we can fight going back to the bradey till 2010 but we need to back our selves and pro-gun rights candidates. people innocent and bad guys get killed all the time from weapons all the time other then guns. to correct you venus black market gun dealers dont get their weapons legally either. thats why we have gun laws that more then protect us. enforce the laws we have now and that is good enough for me and millions of others. i try not to be as long winded and full of my own posts so you should try to make it a habit of reading all of mine and not just using selective reading/ memory when you disagree.   ttfn

Oh for Pete's sake.... Bandit if you knew how politics worked and if you followed Obama's gun ideals YOU WOULD KNOW THAT THE DEMS have shot his ideas for guns down, everytime!!!!! Why? Because of the voters!
He's not another Chuck Schumer and try as he may his ideas for gun control never last long. IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH EGO. If YOU ARE AS CONCERNED about this is you want us to believe.... THEN WHY DON"T YOU KNOW THIS STUFF? You aren't concerned enough to learn what Obama is about, who supports him and who doesn't. sheesh!!!!!!!!
You should ALWAYS be pepared to defend your right to bear arms as there are ALWAYS those out there wanting to take that right from you. Saying Obama is going to take guns from us is asinine.
